“We already love lights and have many in our restaurant and in the window - so we really welcome this project to bring even more lights to even more shops. Lighting up our shops will bring such a great ambiance and warmth to the streets during the winter months and we look forward to celebrating our cultures too.
Olga & Sultan, Cavallino
Olga Koval and her husband Sultan have proudly run Cavallino, Italian Trattoria at 25a Walm Lane, since 2023. They took over from Bottega di Anna (another husband and wife team) and decided to retain and build on the authentic Italian theme. They called it Cavallino (meaning small horse) after Olga’s favourite restaurant in her hometown of Donetsk, in Ukraine.
Learn more about their philosophy, see their daily specials, book a table and order takeaway via their website at Cavallino.co.uk.
Just like the owners before, Cavallino also stocks Italian produce and Italian sweets freshly baked each morning, such as Cannoli (traditional Sicilian pastries made of crisp fried pastry tubes filled with creamy delicious ricotta cheese) and Cornetto (Italian croissants). They also serve a range of wines and soft drinks. Book for lunch or dinner, pop in for coffee and pastries, a glass of wine or just to say hi and see the great art too!
Those dining at Cavallino will be treated to the bright, cheerful and twinkling ambiance of the restaurant and will be absolutely charmed by Olga’s other passion, painting. “In November 2014 I started painting as a hobby and to date I have over 1000 pieces. I was also inspired to start painting cats, celebrating my own cat and our restaurant is also the gallery for all my cat paintings.” Find out more at Cavallino, at Olga’s Artfinder page and on her own olgakovalart.com website.
All pasta and soughdough pizzas are freshly made daily on the premises!!
“At Cavallino, we offer our personal rendition of Italian cuisine with an innovative take on traditional cooking methods, fine Italian and British produce and the legacy of our shared food heritage. Our hand-made pasta and pizza is traditionally made using only the finest Italian and local ingredients. We dry our pasta overnight, at low temperatures, allowing the dough to gently mature and develop flavour. Each piece of pasta has a wonderfully rough surface allowing them to absorb sauces, creating beautiful, cohesive dishes.”
